UFC 149 CONTESTS: Prediction and Betting Contest Results

By: Dan Moore, MMATorch UK Contributor

Well that sucked, and I'm not just talking about the UFC 149 main card. After showing so much promise at the last event, most of us posted scores we'd rather forget, and even the better ones weren't that impressive. To top things off, the confidence picks championship match up between Dionico Ortiz and Jimbo Slice ended up with a combined score of just 35. It just wasn't to be for most of us, and UFC 150 can't come quickly enough, to put things right.

Without further ado, let's take a look at how UFC 149 panned out for you all:

CONFIDENCE GAME PRE FIGHT PREDICTIONS

44 people submitted entries for this card. Here?s a combined breakdown of how many confidence points you placed on each fighter (Winner in bold):

Anthony Perosh - 62

Francisco Rivera - 40

Brian Ebersole - 372

Cheick Kongo - 191
Shawn Jordan - 93

Tim Boetsch - 37
Hector Lombard - 297

Renan Barao - 158
Urijah Faber - 143

CONFIDENCE GAME RESULTS

Dionicio Ortiz (25 points) defeated Jimbo Slice (10 points) to become the NEW MMA Torch Confidence Picks Champion. Congratulations Dionicio and commiserations to Jimbo, hero to zero in one card dude, but I'm sure you'll be back on form very soon. This is normally the point where I highlight the few picks the challengers missed on! Not today, too much work, and not enough space on the website to list them all individually! Dionicio moves on to UFC 150 as champion, and will defend his title against a new challenger who goes by the name of "Ravishing" Mark Sacchetti.

Here are the results of the Confidence Picks pool:

45 - "Ravishing" Mark Sacchetti
40 - Matt Page

Take a bow Clay Burley, what a performance, and probably the best i've ever seen. I hope for your sake you put the same bets on last night, but only with real money. RECAP

MMA Torch Confidence Picks Championship Match Up (UFC 150)

Dionicio Ortiz (Champion) vs. "Ravishing" Mark Sacchetti (Challenger)

MMA Torch Betting Picks Championship Match Up (UFC 150)

Clay Burley (Challenger) vs. Dan Moore (Challenger)

Performer of the Night: Notable performances from Dionicio Oritz (poor score, but won a title), Dan Moore (consistent, and now a contender), Mark Sacchetti (new contender) and Matt Page (consistent) make them all worthy contenders for POTN. However, there can only be one winner tonight. Clay Burley, despite a fairly poor showing in the confidence picks, absolutely smashed the betting picks opposition, taking home almost 10 grand in the process. Congrats buddy.

Goat of the Night: If you weren't a contender for POTN, you were definitely a contender for GOTN. Wise move by Kyle Walton to steer clear of the betting this week, because you might have won this award. Gareth Moores also deserves special consideration for a woefully bad night, those two extra points saved you Gareth. However, step forward Scott Peet, you're the GOAT buddy, enjoy the accolade, you deserve it tonight!

We will be back for UFC 150 very soon, so keep an eye out for that. I'll also continue to post links on my Twitter account when the contests go live on the website.
