Roy Nelson had to prepare for three different opponents for Saturday's UFC 146 event, but it didn't take long to dispatch of the man he ultimately went up against on the card.
After "Bigfoot" Silva was moved up to fight Cain Velasquez and Gabriel Gonzaga was forced out with an injury, Nelson took on Dave Herman on the card in Las Vegas. After 40 seconds of trying to find his range, Nelson put an end to the night with a huge overhand right that crumpled Herman to the ground.
One more strike was thrown on the ground that jogged Herman back to consciousness, but referee Steve Mazzagatti got in to stop the fight by then. The win bounced Nelson back from a loss to Fabricio Werdum, and he's now 4-3 inside the Octagon, with all four of his wins ending by knockout or TKO. Herman, meanwhile, has been stopped in two straight fights after a win in his UFC debut last summer.
